Brice Taton

On September 29th.

He was sitting outside a bar having a drink when 30 Partizan ultras beat him with iron bars.

Brice, who had simply come to watch his favourite team play and do a bit of tourism, finds himself in a profoundly grave state in a hospital bed, far from his home town and relatives.
Quickly, the doctors are going to realise the gravity of his physical condition. The first analysis reveals an injury to the heart caused by blows by the iron bars to the thorax. They are going to operate on his aorta; an operation after which the doctors realise that “nearly all his vital organs have been damaged”.
His brain also appears to be injured. Fractures to the skull quickly reveal the evidence. His nose is also smashed, with micro fractures detected around his left cheekbone. His rib cage has numerous injuries and his right wrist is fractured. His pelvis is broken and the area around the perineum is gravely damaged.
Brice falls into a coma.

He eventually died.

Seems if it happens in some backwater of a place no one really cares.

And why are Partizan not being severely reprimanded for this?

QUOTE
Partizan have now echoed those calls, and a statement on their official website read: "Our anger, as sports people of good will, is enormous.

"Brice Taton is no longer with us. Brice will leave Belgrade in a coffin, while we remain here in shame, leaving us to face ourselves with our own being and consequences.

"Partizan FC expresses hope that Belgrade and Serbia will never again witness such tragedy, which at this evil hour left us all silent and humiliated human beings."

In an open letter to the French Embassy in Belgrade, club general secretary Darko Grubor added: "We are shaken by the news of Brice Taton's death and we plead with you to accept our sincere condolences."

Those sentiments were repeated in a second open letter to Toulouse, in which Grubor also stated: "Our club would like to attend Brice's funeral and we plead with you to inform the Taton family of our intentions. We will respect any decision coming from Brice's family."

I've heard a lot of good things about normal Serbian football fans in terms of hospitality but the ultra element in places like Serbia and Croatia are just something else. Shortly after this an Australian man and a Libyan were attacked by what are considered to be the same people, gangs who roam around the area and double up as Partizan ultras. According to the BBC article they also cancelled a gay pride march as they believed participants would be attacked.

For these reasons it is very difficult to pin it down as the responsibility of Partizan Belgrade FC, but a lot of clubs just turn a blind eye, particularly in the former Yugoslavia and also in places like Poland, Ukraine and Bulgaria.

There's nothing to wonder about. It's only talked about when it happens in certain few countries.

Partizan ultras are notorious for violence, particularly against Red Star and Vojvodina fans.

You mean "A couple of horrible turks".
You cant blame a club with 25 million fans for that incident.

He didn't say anything about blaming anyone, he said it brought back memories of what happened, let's not turn this into a blame game.

Well it was a very high profile story, because it was English fans. It comes to my point really, it only seems to matter to the news agencies if it happens in a high profile game, league or country.
