Wolfsburg, playing in only their 20th European game, beat Portsmouth 3-2 in the UEFA Cup last season in their only previous home match against an English club.

United striker Wayne Rooney could play in his 50th CL game. He has scored 15 goals in the competition, the same tally for the club as his former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
